Follow the Leader

"Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;"
(Eph. 5:1)
One of my favorite games as a child was Follow the Leader.
Not only did we trace the leader’s steps, but we also imitated their movements.
Sometimes, it made us look foolish; at other times, we may have stumbled because it challenged our physical dexterity as we tried to keep up, filling the leaders' same footsteps.
As we cross over into a brand new year filled with new opportunities, new mercies and new grace, there is only one entity I desire to follow after – one person I want to imitate - and that is Jesus.
- Following after Him alleviates doubt.
We don’t have to wonder which way to go when He is leading and guiding the way. He lights our paths and has ordered our steps. He has laid the way, so we will not get lost.
- Following after Him relieves fear.
There is no danger on the path that lies ahead. He sees and He knows what is down / up the road. He has been there and done that. So, even if we must press through the valley of the shadow of death, we don’t have to fear, He is with us.
- Following after Him keeps us from harm.
He has made the crooked places straight and calmed the stormy seas. Therefore, there is no danger in the waters. In fact, he is already at the end before we begin the journey. He is making sure no seen or unseen hurt can harm us.
Following Jesus will not make us look foolish - only to confound the wise; it will not cause us to appear clumsy - except to shame the strong.
So, let’s follow the leader into our destinies, all the way from earth to heaven ...
"Let Jesus lead you, all the way. "
"And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee,
he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee:
fear not, neither be dismayed."
(Deut. 31:8)
