PRESENT

I can remember, when in school, roll was called every morning and we were to answer, "PRESENT".

One of my favorite teachers expressed that half the battle was over when we simply showed up; to be absent was automatic defeat.

I thought about the simple act of "Showing Up" and my heart smiled as I reflected on how God has always shown up for me - in my most dire situations, in my distress, in my troubles, and in my triumphs. In fact, there would be no triumphs, if not for HIM.

I often pray - God, I just need you to be present. I don't even have to ask you to do anything. Some things I don't have to request. Because of your very nature, some things just happen.

When you are present, the enemy has to leave. He knows he is outmatched.

For who can stand against the Lord? Not one.

When God is present, darkness ceases to be because He lights up the place.

When God is present, confusion has to vacate. He is not the Author of confusion.

Peace accompanies Him. Storms calm down. Order is restored. The atmosphere shifts. The climate changes.

When God shows up, Hope catches a ride and shows up, too.

Lord, I simply invite your presence to abide with me!
